A Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree can prepare you for a variety of entry to mid-level positions in various industries. Graduates holding BBA degrees commonly find jobs in marketing, finance, sales and management, but the degree can be applied to nearly any area of business. If you're interested in a particular industry or area of business, you can designate a specialization within your degree program, such as finance, marketing, operations management, information technology or human resource management.

Business administration majors often work for private and public corporations or firms in various industries. Positions you might qualify for include sales manager, customer service specialist, marketing analyst, sales representative, business developer, database administrator, advertising manager and project manager. The amount of business done over the Internet is increasing, and employers will likely prefer computer-savvy candidates with a keen sense of online business methodologies and strategies. You may consider taking additional computer and new media courses while in school or through business training programs.

Professional certification is a good way to enhance your skills and remain competitive in the job market. The BLS states that the number of managers seeking certification is likely to grow due to increasing competition. The type of certification you consider will depend on your specialization and the industry in which you work. For instance, financial analysts may consider obtaining the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, while accountants generally need the Certified Public Accountant credential.

How Much Can I Expect to Earn?

BBA holders in managerial positions may have some of the highest earnings potential. According to the BLS, the median annual wages of all advertising and promotions managers were $83,890 in May 2010. In addition, sales managers had median wages of $98,530 and marketing managers had even higher median wages of $112,800.

Advertising and promotions managers, as of May 2010, earned the most in the wholesale electrical and electronic products industry with a mean annual wage of $140,710, according to the BLS. Similarly, sales managers working in the BLS category of other financial investment activities made the most with a mean annual wage of $168,120. For marketing managers, oil and gas extraction was the highest paying industry with a mean annual wage of $164,790.
