Certification Information for EMTs in New Jersey

To become certified as an emergency medical technician (EMT) in New Jersey, you must complete an approved EMT program. Next, you must take and pass the state certification exam in order to work as an EMT.

To be licensed as a paramedic, you need to meet the clinical and didactic education requirements of an approved EMT-Paramedic program. This will qualify you to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians - Paramedic (NREMT-P) exam. Once you pass, you will then be issued a NJ paramedic certification card.

Salary and Employment Outlook for EMTs in New Jersey

Positions for paramedics and EMTs were projected to increase by 33% nationwide between 2010 and 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
