Licensing Requirements for Dental Hygienists in Nevada
To apply for a dental hygiene license from the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners (NSBDE), you must have graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program, complete a state jurisprudence exam, and pass a clinical exam administered by either the North East Regional Board, American Board of Dental Examiners, Western Regional Examination Board or NSBDE (www.nvdentalboard.nv.gov). You will then need to pass a background check and provide proof of current CPR certification.
Career and Salary Information
As of May 2011, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that there were an estimated 1,280 dental hygienists employed in the state of Nevada. While the majority of job opportunities for hygienists are found in dental offices, you may also be able to find employment in other facilities, such as public health departments, physician's offices, insurance agencies or schools. The BLS also reported that dental hygienists in Nevada earned an average annual salary of about $89,000 in 2011.
