The University of Phoenix A+ Fundamentals Certificate program is designed to provide you with a basic understanding of computer hardware and software operations. You also have the opportunity to learn about hardware configuration, networking and upgrades. Software configuration, optimization, security and maintenance are also studied. In addition, the program focuses on the development of troubleshooting skills. While completion of this program does not result in certification, students can use available materials to prepare for A+ certification exams.
You should have some experience or interest in working on computers, particularly in a corporate setting. Previous courses in computer programming can be helpful, but are not required.
The University of Phoenix A+ Fundamentals Certificate program requires the completion of six credits in basic hardware and software courses. The hardware fundamentals course must be completed before students can take the software fundamentals course.
While graduates of the A+ Fundamentals Certificate program at University of Phoenix could possess the basic knowledge to qualify for some entry-level positions, a degree might be required to begin a career in this field.
